Activities
1.Research (Undergraduates)
Undergraduate students at Keio University’s Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) can join a lab from their first year. If they find it is not to their liking, they can switch at the end of the semester. Our lab encourages first year students to join right from their first semester. Students are not required to study basics in preparation for entering the lab, since all students enrolling at SFC have sufficient basic academic ability.
Research topics change slightly each year so priority can be given to topics that students want to study. Specialist staff and graduate students are assigned to each topic to offer guidance. All lab members generally gather during the 3rd and 4th periods on Mondays, and group research activities also take place at other times. The following topics are likely for 2009.
(1)Car body group
Research into strength and structure of car bodies, suspension and comfort.
(2) Motor group
Design, trial manufacture, and testing of electric vehicle motors and inverters.
(3)Design group
Research into electric vehicle design and promotion methods.
(4)Aerodynamics group
Research to reduce wind resistance of electric vehicles.
(5)Business/marketing group
Research into electric vehicle business models.
(6)Public transport group
Research into electric buses, trains, and other forms of public transport.
(7)Next-generation mobility group
Research into automated driving systems, remote driving assistance systems, and next-generation mobility forms.
2.Research (Dissertations)
All students writing dissertations generally meet on Tuesday mornings, and research their chosen topics throughout the year.
3.Research (Masters and Doctoral Theses)
Masters and doctoral students generally meet on Tuesdays to report results.
4.Extracurricular Events
Each year students enter electric vehicles they have made in events such as the annual Shikoku EV Rally and the EV Festival held at Tsukuba Circuit.
